MY STORY
Katie Joy Allen
Social Media Manager, Vocalist, Music Producer and Teacher
Hello! I'm so glad you're here!
I'm Katie Joy, hailing from Baltimore, MD, and currently immersing myself in the vibrant musical landscape of Nashville, TN, as a student at Belmont University. Here, I'm pursuing a B.B.A. in Music Business, with an emphasis on Music Production, complemented by a Minor in Social Media Management. My musical journey is also rooted in a rich education from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where I honed my skills in Vocal Performance and Opera.

Musical Accomplishments/Teaching Experience
With over a decade dedicated to the study of music, enriched by more than eight years of professional vocal training, I've cultivated an extensive understanding of vocal techniques and musicality. My path in the music industry has been marked by notable achievements. Performing at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and earning accolades such as the "Excellence in Vocal Adjudication Award" at the Northeast Theatre Festival, "Singer of the Year" for the Maryland Opera Company in 2019, and being a part of the esteemed Washington National Opera Institute, my experiences span a broad spectrum of musical endeavors.

My choral and classical journey is equally distinguished, participating in highly selective choirs, including the ACDA Eastern Honors Choir, the Baltimore All-County Chorus, the Maryland All-State Mixed and Treble Chorus, and ACDA Voices United (along with 15+ other musical ensembles and world premieres). Additionally, as a professional opera singer, my performances aim to captivate and move audiences. In 2019 I attended the 5 week Maryland Opera Camp in which I played the lead protagonist in the world premiere of "Mercury", along with creating compositions for local operas, attending stage combat masterclasses, and more. In 2020, I had the honor of participating in the highly recognized Washington National Opera Institute where I focused on all aspects of operatic singing and performance.

In addition to a multitude of performance opportunities, I have imparted my knowledge through both public and private teaching engagements, covering the following subjects in private lessons: vocal coaching, music theory, music industry, music production, English diction (International Phonetic Alphabet), and more. My role as an assistant director/intern for the Deer Creek Youth Choir further exemplifies my additional commitment to fostering musical talent in the large group setting.

In essence, my journey is a testament to the power of dedication, versatility, and the relentless pursuit of musical excellence. Whether through performance or education, my mission is to inspire and nurture the next generation of musicians, sharing the joy and transformative power of music.

Music Production/Audio Engineering Experience
My exploration into the realm of audio engineering and production has been a journey of both formal education and hands-on experience. I've delved deep into the intricacies of sound through courses like Critical Listening for Audio, Survey of Audio Engineering, Basics of Digital Audio Workstations, DAW Production, and Audio Engineering 1. These classes, some of which were taken in the iconic Columbia Studios and Quonset Hut on Music Row, have provided me with a robust foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of audio production. My skills extend to proficient work on industry-standard software such as Logic Pro and Pro Tools, as well as extensive experience on physical consoles and equipment, including the Solid State Logic (SSL) Origin Analog Studio Console and an original 1970's Application Programming Interface (API) console. This comprehensive background equips me with the expertise to produce high-quality audio in various settings, ensuring my work stands out in the dynamic field of music production.
